It is like a painting on a mud wall of India; only the modern version! A specific-design idea or specific design sensibilities seem to develop in some areas of the world automatically. We don’t like to stare at barren walls. By nature we are creative! We are designers.

You must have come across various posts about amazing designer bus stops (check my post and go here and here) in and around Russia. How did it start?

Now in Japan a new trend is developing. Fences or say specifically construction sites fences are painted beautifully.

Are you looking at these … speakers thinking why there is no sound ?!

Are you already shaking it?! (Nowadays I shake my CPU because it doesn’t get started!).

To me these products remind me something of sweet old gramophone design.

Hey! But I am not saying these are speakers or lights or some new age designer chairs!!

I am asking you what these are.

A very talented Vadodara based ceramist and potter Jyotsna Bhatt’s work as part of Digital Art exhibition. It is while learning sculpture she discovered her interest in making three-dimensional figures.

The Finnish designers – Tiia Eronen, Eeva Heikkinen, Laura Järveläinen, and Hanna Kerman @ Focus Fabric make this kind of pulsating urban landscape on textiles.

For their interiors fabrics they also find inspiration from nature. To top it all they use only  sustainable material – organic cotton and hemp.

The designer isn’t satisfied borrowing inspiration from tradition of only few hundred years. In fact she goes million years back and finds her inspiration in Stone Age tools.

And then designs these modern glass knives!

Designer Noa Bembibre’s work is on display as part of Hardcore – New Finnish Design @ New York Design Week 2008 (Meatpacking District) (guide here) from today.
