Brussels based young designer Sylvain Willenz‘s ‘slide’ mirror is simply a graphical creation. Simple graphic drawings here play with ideas of reflection, perception, depth and introspection.

The black border clearly refers to simple fat graffiti drop-shadows and elementary 3D effects; only here this feature is applied with extreme simplicity into a clean shiny black and silver piece of glass for use inside the house.

Create a village with glass beads: a medieval village – is created by Colorado based glass beads artist Denise Perreault. In this creation she has used apart from glass seed beads; Swarovski crystals, crosses, and findings hung from antique train ram rod.

She is always fascinated by refracted light, the prisms; right since her childhood! So when her beaded glass curtains (valance) sieve the sunlight, magic is created.

green turfed roofscape

School of Art, Design & Media, Nanyang, Singapore

Designers : CPG Consultants Pte Ltd

This is a 5-storey School of Art, Design & Media at Nanyang Technological University campus, Singapore. This stunning piece of award-winning architecture is situated in a wooded valley. Before you read on, answer this : is this a landscape or a building?

The embracing arms of this unique building have a most spectacular verdant turfed roof which blends with ground contour as if emerges from it. It has glass curtain wall and raw concrete minus the painting.

Apart from its visual impact, the turfed roofscape helps to lower the roof temperature and surrounding areas. It works as a functional space, as a scenic outdoor community space via easily accessible sidesteps along the roof edge.

Lighting plays an important aspect to the building. The full glass curtain wall allows generous doses of daylight into the studios and galleries while cutting off the tropical heat. At night, the building glows like a lantern.

The exterior glass facade of the building allows full views to the outside, again providing visual connectivity with the surrounding lush landscape.

Three blocks of the school building are organically interwoven to enclose a sunken courtyard and a unique interconnectivity and flow.

spams – you are such a bad design!

I did not plan this post today. In fact I have a lovely post about a stunning architecture slotted for evening publishing. And six drafts posts about good design.

But as my Akismet (anti-spam software) says :-

It‘s your lucky day. 🙂

(most wordpress bloggers would know this.)

I also say IT IS MY LUCKY DAY! 🙂

First if anybody is having competition of bloggers who have got largest amount of spam comments than count me in.

Not just count me in consider me the winner.

Hurrah! I have got 5,000+ spam comments since my inception in last week of June last year!

Once I added a beautiful word like love to one of the post about an Indian festival and that attracted a large number of spammers. I made changes and added the word bond to it instead of love. And ultimately I had to close the comments section on that post!

I love my Akismet software!

I hate my Akismet software! ( For that matter every anti-software too.)

Love it because it stops all spam comments in spam box! And ultimately deletes it!

Hate it because I have to do a quick scanning of my spam comments everyday twice as sometimes it gobbles up pingbacks and blogger friends’ comments. And every time I shudder doing this though it is quick! This is still ok.

I hate it more because spammers are unnecessary and so the anti-softwares too!

I wonder what spammers achieve! Their march is almost always stopped midway and they meet their fate in delete box! They do achieve a little bit of my irritation and my screwed eyebrows!

Sorry to sound such a cynic but don’t spammers keep alive all the employment arising from making new anti-spam etc. softwares!

Spams and anti-spam softwares both are fabulous examples of bad designs!!

A design which comes not from a need but from a created problem, I consider bad design!

And today is my spam email LUCKY day too!

Phishers? have taken advantage of one of the Indian social network site and a large numbers of bloggers have been affected and I think, not knowing the source: they are SHOUTING AT EACH OTHER.

I made this mistake!??

I confirmed the email!

I have been thanked for the blog visit – I have never made!

And the bombardments of “shouting’ mails!

(Have blurred or white-washed the email ids so that spammer couldn’t take more advantage.)

And some day we will have to talk about BAD DESIGN! Why not today!

What holds for me and you in the year 2008!

Will the road be winding, too long and dark? Will I not be able to see and gauze what is in store for me?
