Gimme a flower of a cigarette …

Up the wall!

I was away not just from blogging but emails, computer and pretty much everything.

I was driven up the wall by the red tapism and mismanagement in our education system (just like this sofa).

I was running all the while (one month +) for my daughter’s admission in a good college in her chosen stream. Period!

Even IF I had time I could not have been able to open the computer let alone blog as I was too tense all the time!

Thank God that I have come out sane from this!

And my daughter eventually got admission where she wanted!

Out of many bitter lessons learnt I want to mention just one.

Our education system does not think that internet and simple phone are marvellous inventions – time saving devices. Instead people belonging to this field think their stature would go down if they ever answer by phone or put some info on net!

I don’t want to say sorry for my absence but definitely want to say thank you all that came regularly to my blog and commented. Wrote to me showing concern via mails or via comments.

I especially want to thank Maryam, Geetha, Oorie, Palak and Niharika.

I also want to welcome newbies on my blog who wrote to me but I could not answer them!

Will write to you all soon.

world day against child labour

a message, a poster against child labour, hemang anglay

a poster by graphic designer

Hemang Anglay

Do I want to write big words about child labour like bonded labour, child trafficking, hazardous conditions and lost childhood in long hours!

No.

Do I want to give big statistics for child labour – like an estimation of 167 to 250 million child labour worldwide!

No.

Do I want to say that India has about 17 million child labour!

No.

I am unable to see a Child Labour as Separate Identity from his poor family. It’s a Child-Labour-family and not just a child labour! A child contributes about 34%  to 37% of household income.

Am I not against child labour?

I Am Completely Against Child Labour.

But I am looking for Real Social Equality Solutions and not just laws and days and campaigns so that we can eradiate child labour from roots.

 modern-minimal-visually stunning houses, fearon hay

Fearon Hay Architects is a New Zealand based firm.

For their stark modern aesthetics, I want to dub them as ‘Maharajas’ of modern minimal architecture!

Every corner of these houses is linked to its landscape. Large living areas, internal courtyards, endless verandahs, open plan bathroom, extensive decks and patio spaces, natural grey plaster walls and merging of indoor and outdoor living spaces with slide away systems to open the house to the opulence of views and abundant light make these spaces simple, magnificent and dreamy!

crafty exteriors

Exteriors - designs, designer façade, shatto recreation center, steven ehrlich architects, architecture

Architects: Steven Ehrlich Architects + in collaboration with artist Ed Moses

Mix some cross stitch, some ikat, some ancient calligraphy and Aztec architecture on a wall and you have this stunning artwork façade!

This unusual crafted exterior look belongs to Shatto Recreation Center designed by Steven Ehrlich Architects in collaboration with artist Ed Moses.

Shatto Center’s architecture in itself is interesting enough but what holds my interest more is its designer façade!

Center’s north and south elevations are animated with abstract patterns of split-faced, sandstone coloured red bricks and glazed black concrete blocks.
